GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:

This position involves performing a variety of custodial and light maintenance tasks to ensure cleanliness and functionality within County facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


The following statements outline the primary responsibilities of the role, but are not exhaustive of all duties required.

Individuals may perform additional tasks as assigned.

  • Thoroughly cleans, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
  • Vacuums, cleans, and sweeps carpeted areas.
  • Washes windows, woodwork, paneling, toilets, wash basins, and other fixtures within buildings.
  • Restocks paper and liquid supplies in restrooms, kitchens, and other designated areas.
  • Replenishes towels, toilet paper, and soap in washrooms or other specified locations.
  • Maintains cleanliness of sidewalks and other outdoor areas adjacent to buildings.
  • Disposes of trash and removes obstructions from buildings, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots.
  • Replaces burnt-out light bulbs.
  • Assists with minor repairs to equipment.
  • Relocates office furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Operates vehicles to transport materials and personnel.
  • Ensures a professional and safe working environment by adhering to established safety protocols and the desired organizational image.
  • Consistently follows organizational policies and procedures.
  • Adapts positively to changes and performs all other related tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Proficiency in operating hand tools, buffers, vacuums, and pressure cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate oral and written instructions.
  • Physical agility to safely perform a range of custodial tasks.
  • Capacity to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, managers, directors, elected officials, vendors, and the public.

PHYSICAL SKILLS:

Must be able to remain stationary for 10% of the time.

Frequently operates various types of janitorial equipment including, but not limited to, brooms, mops, and vacuums. Must be able to frequently position oneself to work under or around various items to perform custodial tasks.

Regularly inspects and assesses equipment, buildings, and materials to complete daily tasks. Frequently ascends/descends stairs, ladders, and scaffolding. Regularly moves materials and office equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Frequently communicates with the public, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring accurate information exchange. Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions, which may include inclement weather for up to four (4) hours. Frequently operates a motor vehicle for up to four (4) hours. Constantly inspects and assesses equipment, buildings, and materials to complete daily tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in commercial custodial work.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS,

OR REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

OTHER JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

Disaster Essential.
