Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and administer a comprehensive maintenance training program to meet the full range of maintenance objectives.
  • Conduct theoretical and practical hands-on training, both in the classroom and in the field, for subjects such as passenger vehicles, platform screen gates, automatic train control, uninterruptable power supplies, on-track equipment, and shop equipment.
  • Instruct and demonstrate, utilizing applicable technical data, schematics, diagnostic laptops, hand tools, calibrated tools, electronic test equipment, and current maintenance procedures.
  • Use current training techniques, such as lecture, demonstration, student participation, question and answer, student evaluation, and so on.
  • Instruct maintenance employees to perform preventive maintenance activities.
  • Instruct maintenance employees on corrective maintenance activities, such as schematic reading, component identification, troubleshooting, and repairing.
  • Ensure that all maintenance employees have satisfied and maintained required competencies and qualifications.
  • Administer online testing via the learning management system.
  • Participate in emergency drill exercises as directed by the Training and Competency Manager.
  • Supervise and evaluate maintenance staff, including testing, competency assessments, certification, and recertification, confirming that all tasks outlined can be performed successfully by means of written and/or practical testing.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, safety, and operating rules.
  • Evaluate, determine, and initiate remedial action for employees that demonstrate they cannot perform their job independently.
  • Confirm the availability of classroom space, shop space, tools, and test equipment, diagnostic laptops, trains, automatic train control rooms, track occupancy, and visual aid equipment at the time and place of specified training.
  • Ensure appropriate training records are maintained within the learning management system.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly acquire the knowledge of transportation and maintenance standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to read schematics and comprehend series and parallel circuits.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a group or individual in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to develop training material, such as syllabus, lesson plan, PowerPoint, written test, competency assessment, for maintenance functions.
  • Ability to quickly acquire the knowledge of the O&M Organization maintenance equipment, rules, SOPs, safety rules, collective bargaining agreements, personnel policies and procedures, and instruction, training, and testing techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and our client.
  • Ability to work variable hours, shifts, and days.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4 years' experience in rail transit maintenance and/or training, or a combination of the two.
  • Background and experience in rail transit maintenance.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is preferred: train control systems, platform screen gates, uninterruptable power supplies, traction power substations, track switch machines, rail transit vehicle system, such as brakes, propulsion, doors, auxiliary power, trucks, and suspension, coupler, and so on.

The salary range for this position is $71,160.

Final pay is determined by the candidate's experience, skillset, and ability level, internal equity, and location.
