Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Healthcare Unit Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of patients through the hospital.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient charts and other relevant documents.
  • Verify completeness of orders, consents, lab results, and signatures for patients scheduled for surgery or other special procedures.
  • Respond to patient call lights and notify appropriate personnel of responses.
  • Utilize the computer system to verify orders and complete consults accurately.
  • Receive and deliver information timely and accurately, and notify RN of diagnostic results when called to the unit.
  • Review HUC audit form for compliance and report any non-compliance to charge nurse and/or Director.
  • Complete and maintain documentation related to unit activities, including time and attendance, patient assignment sheets, and current census.
  • Restock medicine cupboards, nurse servers, and filing drawers with appropriate supplies/forms on a routine basis.
  • Order, deliver, transport, receive, and return supplies from ancillary departments according to departmental standards.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations, such as code 69 and acute care transfers.
  • Maintain white boards in patient rooms and nurses' station when assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of administrative experience.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens and latex.
