Job Overview

The Healthcare Nutrition Assistant plays a crucial role in managing various tasks associated with the receipt, understanding, and execution of patient dietary orders within healthcare facilities. This position serves as a vital link between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services.

COMPENSATION: The hourly wage for this role ranges from $14.40 to $16.00, influenced by factors such as the applicant's qualifications, relevant certifications, previous experience, market trends, and other pertinent considerations. Additional compensation may include bonuses or commissions where applicable. This represents Aramark's reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position at the time of posting.

If selected, the employee will be in an 'at-will position,' and Aramark reserves the right to adjust base salary and any other discretionary compensation at any time and for any reason, including individual performance, departmental performance, and market conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver and retrieve patient meal trays during service hours. Provide nourishments and snacks to patients as directed by healthcare professionals in a timely manner. Engage with patients to introduce the Food and Nutrition Services available.
  • Gather food preferences and dislikes from patients and/or their families.
  • Communicate all patient dietary needs to the relevant sections of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
  • Ensure that nutrition care orders are accurately provided to patients by offering suitable menu options.
  • Maintain and comply with all sanitation standards by adhering to assigned cleaning schedules and completing additional sanitation tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Manage inventory and restock pantries, refrigerators, and freezers in assigned units.
  • Keep temperature logs for unit refrigerators and freezers.
  • Understand therapeutic diets using established protocols and seek guidance from supervisors or dietitians if discrepancies are noted.
  • Assist clinical staff in meeting all patients' fundamental nutrition care requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess the ability to speak, read, and write in English. Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory. This role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
