Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team at Teichert. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for conducting routine quality assurance testing and inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct various aggregate and aggregate-based material quality tests using sample testing procedures.
  • Organize testing results and prepare reporting information for Teichert personnel.
  • Obtain samples from production facilities, including aggregate plants and asphalt plants.
  • Maintain regular communications with plant personnel and supervisors to report material acceptability and test results.
  • Organize and clean the QA lab.
  • May communicate with inspectors regarding sample transfers when directed by the supervisor.
  • Deliver samples to locations as directed.
  • Monitor and assist summer interns.
  • Promote a Zero Injury culture through personal adherence to company safety policies and practices.
Requirements
  • A High School diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • A minimum of zero to two years of work experience. Experience need not be industry-related.
  • Must obtain Caltrans JTCP Certification Agg I, HMA I, or ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level I within six months of employment.
  • Mathematical aptitude and ability to learn computer-aided test data analysis programs.
  • Basic computer software skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Stonemont QC Software.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in aggregate testing and related technology.
  • Mechanical ability to maintain and repair plant equipment related to QA testing and processing.
  • Ability to exercise judgment where appropriate and within established guidelines.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work on a team and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers, staff, and management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak and understand English to a proficient and understandable level.
  • Valid Driver License in the state of residence and work, and maintain an acceptable driving record.

The position may require lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Special projects may require lifting up to 80 lbs. May require walking on uneven ground, climbing, reaching, bending, standing, or stooping.

Use of general tools for maintenance and repair of equipment.

May be required to work outdoors for long periods of time and at varied shift levels from day to swing to night.

Plant locations may contain dust, fumes, debris, medium to loud levels of noise, and extreme weather conditions.

Works with and handles hot material samples.

Travel may be required to other locations, site facilities, or educational seminars.

Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise.

Lab testing environment may contain dust and medium to loud levels of noise with variations in temperature.

Some locations may require climbing ladders and working at elevated heights.
