Job Summary / Purpose

Support Interventional Cardiologists, Radiologists, and Vascular Surgeons in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology settings by assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Responsibilities include acting as scrub and monitoring personnel, ensuring radiation safety, and providing education to patients and their families. Collaborate effectively within the Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular team while supporting nursing duties. Maintain proficiency in all relevant imaging and device-based technologies utilized in these specialized areas. Respond competently to emergency situations such as Code STEMI and Code Stroke alerts. Document and assess the outcomes of interventions and provide on-call services as required.

Essential Duties:
  • Operate c-arm radiation equipment, ensuring radiation protection and demonstrating proficiency in all procedural applications.
  • Prepare sterile environments with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques while functioning as scrub assistant and hemodynamic monitor.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all current devices utilized in the Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular inventory, including various adjunct therapies.
  • Participate in a range of procedures such as PCI, PTCA, and PTA, as well as cerebral and visceral angiography and interventions.
  • Exhibit strong decision-making, critical thinking, and clinical leadership skills, acting as a mentor to others.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding procedures and cardiovascular health risks.
  • Assist nursing staff in all aspects of patient care and report any deviations from established standards.
  • Maintain the CPACS database and demonstrate competency in arterial and venous sheath removal, hemostasis, and access site management.
  • Recognize EKG changes and hemodynamic variations, alerting Cardiologists as necessary.
  • Deliver care to patients before, during, and after procedures, ensuring readiness for rapid transport in emergencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure and Certifications:
  • Licensed Medical Radiographer in the state of Kentucky.
  • Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT RTR, RCES, RCIS).
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) certification within five days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
