Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters and emergencies. You will also focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient's level of need.
  • Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
