Job Summary:

As a Senior Trailer Technician with J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to diagnose and repair complex issues with trailers, containers, and chassis. You will work independently and as part of a team to maintain and repair equipment, ensuring that all units meet J.B. Hunt specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks, including tire replacements, brake adjustments, electrical diagnostics, and structural repairs.
  • Oversee recall campaigns and sign off on completion.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS systems and specialized equipment, including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment.
  • Properly attend to service truck parts inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • May onboard and mentor new technicians, act as team lead, and delegate work to team members.
  • Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard.
  • Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements.
  • Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • DOT certification in FHWA inspections and air brakes.
  • Able to supply own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements and across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License.
  • Advanced welding skills (MIG and stick).
  • Knowledge of ABS systems.
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.
