Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 2 Job Description

Inova Health System's Alexandria Hospital is seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist 2 to join our Cath Lab team. This full-time position requires a start time of 6:30am - 4-10hr or 3-12hr days, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and therapeutic care to patients in a holistic and caring manner, incorporating differences into the provision of care.
  • Perform psychosocial and physiologic assessments, integrating changing data as documented in procedure notes.
  • Tailor and prioritize caring practices to individual patient needs, including cultural, ethical, and spiritual needs.
  • Ensure efficiency in the delivery of care, determining immediate priorities and offering solutions for problems.
  • Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab, preparing the sterile field, selecting and preparing instruments and supplies, manipulating cardiac catheters, guidewires, etc., and injecting contrast media.
  • Administer medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician.
  • Calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment and instruments on a daily basis, maintaining quality assurance records as required.
  • Select appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedures.
  • Delegate patient care activities to other healthcare team members and participate in making and revising staff assignments.
Requirements:
  • Work schedule: start time for Cath lab is 6:30am - 4-10hr or 3-12hr days, M-F; on-call required.
  • Location: Inova Alexandria Hospital.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and/or Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: One to three years of experience in interventional Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology Lab performing Cardio Invasive Specialist duties or equivalent years of experience as a nurse working in a critical care hospital unit.
  • Certification: BLS Certification, ACLS Certification, Registered in one of the following: RCIS, RTR VI, RTR CV, RTR CI, unless a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. If does not possess one of the above registries, must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
