Senior Credit Analyst

In the realm of financial technology, organizations striving to innovate often encounter challenges with their foundational banking systems and infrastructure. Having built and scaled companies in this sector, we understand the hurdles faced by developers and builders who must navigate partnerships with traditional banks while creating efficient API layers over a complex banking ecosystem. This intricate supply chain can lead to inefficiencies and elevated costs.
At The Ladders, we aim to streamline this process. We operate as both a banking institution and a technology provider, designed to deliver innovative banking solutions that eliminate unnecessary intermediaries and reduce complexity. Join us in our mission to enhance the banking experience.
The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a seasoned credit expert eager to construct a robust credit portfolio, free from the bureaucratic hurdles typical of traditional financial institutions. As part of a dynamic team with a rapidly expanding balance sheet, your responsibilities will encompass executing asset-backed securities (ABS) investments, providing financing solutions to niche finance entities, establishing third-party origination partnerships, and acquiring loans. We seek an individual with a solid finance background and experience in underwriting consumer and small business loan portfolios, executing transactions, and monitoring portfolio performance. Additionally, we value initiative and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
This role offers the chance to collaborate with a talented team passionate about building a successful and profitable business. You will have a significant impact on the lending operations and be empowered to influence our lending strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite various consumer and small business credit portfolios related to lending, whole loans, ABS, and partnership investments.
- Lead transaction execution processes, including underwriting management, due diligence, and contract negotiations across strategic credit partnerships and loan acquisitions.
- Represent The Ladders in the lending sector by cultivating and managing relationships with borrowers.
- Oversee funded transactions, including new portfolio acquisitions and borrowings.
- Identify overarching themes to explore within specialty finance and structured credit.
- Collaborate with the team to source new lending opportunities.
- Work with technical teams to develop customized tools that enhance risk management, monitoring, and operational functions.
- Experience: 3 - 5 years in finance, ideally at a bank, asset management firm, or fintech focused on structured products or warehouse lending.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to critically evaluate investment opportunities across various asset classes.
- Proactive Attitude: Willingness to take initiative and contribute as an individual contributor to advance business objectives.
- Self-Motivated: Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
- Professional Demeanor: Experience in engaging with senior leadership is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Intex software, SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools is advantageous.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, with options fully covered for employees and partially for dependents.
- Flexible spending and health savings account options for pre-tax medical and dependent care expenses.
- 401k plan with self-directed brokerage options.
- Flexible time-off policy to support work-life balance.
- Paid parental leave.
- Catered meals for employees.
- Commuter benefits.
- Regular team-building activities.
At The Ladders, we are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We believe that a variety of perspectives and experiences enrich our team and drive innovation. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
