Position Overview

The role of a Mental Health Worker involves providing essential support within a psychiatric care setting. The responsibilities include:

  • Patient Admission Assistance: Facilitating the admission process and ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
  • Safety Protocols: Conducting thorough searches for contraband and orienting patients to the facility.
  • Valuables Management: Identifying and documenting patient valuables to ensure their safety.

Additionally, the Mental Health Worker will:

  • Personal Care Support: Assist patients with hygiene needs and monitor dietary requirements.
  • Environment Maintenance: Ensure a safe and clean environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Patient Interaction: Utilize supportive techniques with patients experiencing anxiety or agitation.
  • Activity Coordination: Identify and facilitate group activities that promote patient engagement and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient histories and conditions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Implement individualized care plans and observe patient behaviors, documenting relevant data.
  • Provide escort and supervision for patients during appointments and other necessary activities.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a psychiatric care environment under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Required Certifications:

  • CPR/BLS certification.
