At Virginia Tech, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician/Floater to join our team in the Small Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital. As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the medical sections of the hospital.
Responsibilities:- Provide technical support to clinical faculty and senior veterinary students in the medical sections of the hospital.
- Administer treatments and medications ordered by clinical faculty.
- Perform critical care nursing procedures in the ICU as directed by clinical faculty.
- Instruct senior veterinary students in technical and manipulative skills related to ICU/Critical Care.
- Assist in other areas of the hospital as directed by supervisor.
- Licensed or Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT).
- Experience in intensive care in a veterinary medical setting.
- Experience in special procedures and electodiagnostics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills.
- Knowledge of CPR.
- Ability to place intravenous catheters.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- At least 2 years experience in a veterinary clinical setting.
