Job Overview

CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team on a 12-week assignment. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine, special, and immunostaining techniques, as well as high-complexity testing in an acute hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform histological procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
  • Conduct high-complexity testing, such as immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of test results.
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute Histology experience in a hospital setting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Science preferred.
  • Current ASCP - HT certification required; ASCP - HTL certification preferred.
  • Annual membership with certification agency required.
Work Environment
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week with possible overtime opportunities.
  • No call or float required.
  • Maroon scrubs are the designated uniform.
Additional Information
  • Orientation is billable at 70% of the bill rate up to the first 36 hours.
  • Holiday policy as per the Ministry Policy.
  • No Basic Life Support (BLS) or Fit Test required.
