About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator II to join our team at Heat Tech Industrial. As an Estimator II, you will play a critical role in preparing, developing, and coordinating the preparation of full estimates for complex projects and services related to the specialty trade industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Estimating Division Manager with all project proposals as requested
  • Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and/or budgets
  • Prepare accurate and detailed quantity take-offs and unit pricing using established company production rates
  • Provide value engineering as requested
  • Establish profit & overhead for project if requested
  • Produce and submit any deliverables as designated by clients in their RFP Packages
  • Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)
  • Review solicited quotes to ensure "apples to apples" pricing, no scope gaps, and proposals are in the best interest of HTI
  • Inform Estimating Division Manager of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specifications
  • Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)
  • Review and analyze all quotes to assure they meet the standards and specifications for the project
  • Communicate with Customers, owners, vendors, and trades
  • Secure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors by their cost effectiveness for each project
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to completely cover scope in the most cost-effective way
  • Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely
  • Get written documentation on vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Be proficient in project principals, policies, and procedures and apply them during course of work
  • Participate in (and may lead) weekly planning meetings with estimating staff
  • Assist PMs with Buyouts on projects
  • Assist Project Manager with purchasing and any change orders on projects estimated as requested
  • Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Checks are always in place
  • Job close out and review
  • Attend pre-job meetings
  • Attend all estimating meetings
  • Attend project job walks as assigned
  • Be available on all bid days to assist in the collection and review of incoming quotes
Requirements
  • 3-4 years formal experience in estimating industrial and commercial construction projects or experience in the planning or managing of engineering design or construction, or experience in overseeing large engineering projects
  • Professional education and/or experience in the construction and/or relevant industries
  • Thorough understanding of estimating and/or construction management
  • Significant level of overall experience in the design/construction field, specifically industrial and commercial construction
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent math and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and ideas
  • Proficient with Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) with an ability to accurately learn new software quickly
  • Valid Driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
  • 5 years' experience in construction and estimating preferred
  • Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
