Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Owensboro Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suites, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our medical team to deliver outstanding results.

• Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare the surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile and safe environment for patients and medical staff.
• Patient Care: Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients, providing continuous surveillance and maintenance of the sterile field.
• Instrument Management: Pass instruments to the physician during surgery, continually accounting for the number and location of instruments and supplies.
• Specimen Handling: Receive and deliver specimens for appropriate testing.
• Wound Care: Assist with application of wound dressings and securing of drainage systems.
• Operative Site Visualization: Provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.

• Education: High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire.
• Certifications: CST - Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or TS-C - Tech in Surgery-Certified through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required within 90 days of employment.
