Drainage Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Drainage Laborer to join our team at the City of Copperas Cove. As a key member of our drainage maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City drainage facilities and systems.

• Operate a variety of equipment, including trucks, tractors, and power tools, to perform tasks such as hauling materials, mixing concrete, and repairing drainage systems.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
• Work safely and effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment, often in inclement weather conditions.
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve successful operations of the department.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of light equipment operation and maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.

The work environment is primarily outdoors, with frequent exposure to weather conditions, vibrations, and other hazards associated with an outside work environment. The noise level is usually loud.
