Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior EHS Specialist to join our team at Kohler. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and projects to promote significant EHS improvements at our site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and coordinate safety improvement plans to ensure continuous improvement of safety in new or existing products, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop, communicate, facilitate, and track site injury prevention plans.
  • Maintain all OSHA required programs, training, logs, records, and reports.
  • Coordinate all related EHS training for management, supervision, hourly associates, etc.
  • Perform incident investigations (RCA) and ensure CAPA is closed in a timely fashion (compliance with 24:7:14).
  • Conduct risk and hazard analysis.
  • Maintain statistical analysis of associate accidents and injuries to target specific areas for Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Manage contractor safety program.
  • Provide monthly safety reviews and targeted compliance audits.
  • Implement safety-related capital projects, including the evaluation, justification, ACT preparation, and follow-up.
  • Work with medical providers to evaluate lost and restricted work days, etc., and recommend improvements. Manage the return to work and light duty programs.
  • Support management of workers' compensation claims.
  • Coordinate and present monthly safety meeting topics for upper management, supervision, hourly associates, etc.
  • Actively participate in site safety committees.
  • Understand and communicate pertinent EHS government regulations, Kohler EHS standards, and best practices to management and associates.
  • Responsible for maintaining sustainability-related data and required reporting.
  • Understand and communicate applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, all related licenses, and permitting (operating and environmental), and for maintaining a current environmental compliance calendar while ensuring all requirements are met.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work with multiple operations across varying business units.
  • Experience with EHS auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective action identification and implementation.
  • Demonstrated communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to achieve results.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Four-year degree in Engineering, Safety, or related field.
  • Requires at least five to ten years of experience in an EHS-related role within an industrial setting.
  • The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to function as a team leader, ability to foster management and associate participation, have good interpersonal communication, and computer skills.
