Job Summary

The Clinical Coordinator serves as a key administrative liaison and resource person throughout the practice, facilitating, coordinating, and overseeing the process of patient care. This role is responsible for clinical staff, staff assignments, vacation calendar, department orientation of new staff, and patient education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and oversee the process of patient care.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and staff.
  • Responsibility for medication management duties as directed by physicians, including injections, administration of sample medications, and patient medication education.
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of exam rooms, removing outdated medications/supplies, and ensuring stock is at par levels.
  • Follows all equipment cleaning and sterilization procedures and ensures clinical staff compliance.
  • Rooms patients, conducts patient assessments, assists with procedures, implements physician orders, provides patient education, and documents clinical information appropriately.
  • Operate and maintain equipment, including routine maintenance, ordering of supplies, log sheets, and cleaning.
  • Follows all department policies and procedures and ensures staff compliance.
  • Obtains precertification/authorizations as needed.
  • Complies with all coding documentation requirements to ensure proper billing.
  • Provides Practice Manager and Physicians with statistical reports as needed.
  • Assess human resource needs and plan and evaluate employee activities to ensure safe, effective, and fiscally sound operations.
  • Manage human resources to assure safe and effective operations.
  • Reallocate nursing staff to meet patient care needs.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Years of clinical experience (At least 2 Years of experience in areas of specialty or related medical setting within the past 5 years)
  • Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): An ASN/ADN degree with 3 years of clinical experience can be substituted for the following combinations: Bachelors in Nursing with 2 years of experience in areas of specialty within the past 5 years
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina; Current CPR Certification
  • Required Training: Demonstrates basic first aid knowledge
