Position Overview:
As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will undertake responsibilities associated with Pharmacy Technicians I, II, and III. Your role will encompass a wide range of pharmacy technician tasks under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities include supporting the training of junior technicians, conducting audits, and managing various projects. You will also handle outpatient duties such as responding to pharmacy inquiries, mastering the pharmacy management system, and processing prescriptions efficiently. A solid understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, symbols, and abbreviations is essential. Compliance with hospital and departmental policies is mandatory, and patient care responsibilities will span across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Audit Management: Develop and execute routine and specialized audits, ensuring data integrity across programs.
2. Data Entry: Accurately input and verify data in systems and forms, making necessary corrections.
3. Inventory Control: Order medications from suppliers and manage inventory upon receipt.
4. Communication Liaison: Address medication-related inquiries from patients, providers, and clinic staff.
5. System Maintenance: Assist in the upkeep of pharmacy technology systems.
6. Professional Development: Participate in meetings to stay updated on industry trends.
7. Patient Assistance Programs: Oversee and support programs aimed at helping indigent patients access medications.
8. Pharmacy Operations: Engage in technical activities related to medication preparation and distribution.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of Hospital Pharmacy Technician Training or equivalent is essential.
- Chemotherapy drug preparation training within 60 days is necessary.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
Credentials:
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in New Mexico within 60 days is mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires heavy physical exertion, including lifting and moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:
Exposure to hazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment is a significant aspect of this role.
