Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at New Richmond Veterinary Clinic. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our veterinarians and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist veterinarians with patient care and treatment, including monitoring hospitalized pets and preparing patients for surgery.
  • Perform routine in-house laboratory work, including taking and developing radiographs, and preparing specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab spaces, and restock exam rooms with supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians, clients, and other team members to ensure seamless patient care and client satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to work on weekends as required.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds, and lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper PPE.
  • Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.
