Job Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our Cinema Program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Cinema program.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a course(s) in the Cinema program
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the program's goals and objectives
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the program
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience as a professional filmmaker and/or expertise in support areas (e.g., G&E, camera operator, sound design, art direction, producing, directing, production design, editing, etc.)
  • Strong oral presentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional level filmmaking experience on large and small-scale movie projects
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Ability and desire to mentor and support student film projects
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
