Job Overview

General Purpose

As a Device Repair Technician, you will deliver expert support in device maintenance, employing your technical troubleshooting abilities, electronic cross-referencing, and online research skills. Your primary responsibilities will include repairing smartphones, tablets, lighting fixtures, and various electronic devices. You will provide comprehensive solutions to customer issues related to batteries, bulbs, and other services, ensuring a courteous and professional interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Device Repair and Technical Support

  • Prioritize and execute repairs on cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices.
  • Replace screens, batteries, and components for smartphones and tablets.
  • Rebuild battery packs, including cordless drill batteries, as required.
  • Replace cords, sockets, and other components in lamps and light fixtures.
  • Assist in weekly inventory cycle counts to maintain accurate device repair stock levels.
  • Rotate and organize inventory effectively.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Cut keys and reprogram key fob remotes as necessary.

Customer Interaction and Sales

  • Welcome customers, assess their needs, and provide informative responses.
  • Propose additional items for sale to enhance customer experience.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding the status of their device repairs.
  • Maintain high standards of problem resolution and customer satisfaction, escalating issues to management when needed.
  • Identify potential commercial clients through effective questioning.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using computer systems and cash registers.
  • Monitor for loss prevention concerns and report any suspicious activities to management.
  • Exhibit a customer-first approach in all interactions.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; relevant experience is preferred. An Associate's degree in electronics or a related technical field is advantageous.
  • 3-6 months of experience in device repair is preferred, demonstrating technical proficiency.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities are essential, with a capacity for sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently on routine tasks, referring complex situations to supervisors when necessary.
  • Effective listening and communication skills with a focus on customer service; familiarity with customer service policies and procedures is beneficial.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple commitments effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The role involves the following physical demands:

  • Regular use of hands to handle electronic products, with frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above shoulders.
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally, and more than 50 pounds infrequently.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical hazards may occur; moderate noise levels are typical in the work environment.
  • Use of various tools and equipment, including electrical cables, hand tools, testing devices, and key cutting equipment.
  • Protective gear such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed shoes is required.
