Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is a key member of the Dana Incorporated team, responsible for overseeing the company's production operations. This role requires a strong leader who can ensure the smooth flow of materials and supplies, maintain functional machines, and adhere to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Develop and implement strategies to improve safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping, aligning with set goals.
  • Union Contract and Plant Policies: Understand and consistently apply union contract and plant policies.
  • Production Monitoring and Adjustment: Monitor and adjust production/work assignments based on customer demand and part availability.
  • Counseling and Disciplinary Action: Provide counseling and disciplinary action when necessary.
  • New Team Member Orientation and Training: Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Coordinate schedules with production control and other supervisors.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Communicate effectively with Operations Manager, other supervisors, and disciplines to minimize problems.
  • Performance Evaluation and Feedback: Evaluate and provide feedback on individual performance.
  • Productivity Monitoring and Improvement: Monitor daily production reports on downtime, set-up time, productivity, and housekeeping, and develop/implement correction actions.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Document and report necessary productivity reports, attendance, overtime, etc.
  • Quality Assurance and 5S: Focus on quality assurance of products, participate in NCP reviews, and address quality issues immediately. Develop a 5S plan, mentor team leads, and evaluate daily conditions.
  • Safety and Accident Prevention: Ensure the safety of all employees by educating them on accident policies and procedures, reporting accidents, and addressing safety issues immediately.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Participate in DOS events and proactively predict and address abnormalities in the area.
  • Attendance and Overtime Policies: Execute attendance and overtime policies.
Requirements
  • Flexibility and Availability: Willingness to work 2nd shift and flexible to work other shifts as required.
  • Overtime and Weekend Work: Ability to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as needed to support customer needs.
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience utilizing lean tools.
  • Technical Competency and Mechanical Inclination: Technical competency and mechanical inclination, including a basic understanding of production equipment functions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Reading and Interpretation Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, processes, and quality documentation.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Strong leadership skills, a strong work ethic, good decision-making skills, and good listening skills.
  • Team Player and Professionalism: Ability to be a proactive, energetic leader and a team player, dealing with people in a professional and ethical manner.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; however, Associate Degree's or higher in technical fields are highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience or equivalent manufacturing experience in a lead role.
