Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies and presenting them for diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients by confirming patient identification, reviewing imaging requests, and checking for special instructions.
- Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of imaging procedures, and answering questions.
- Conduct mammography studies by positioning breasts, adjusting compression mechanisms, and instructing patients to hold their breath.
- Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques.
- Maintain production and quality of mammograms by following established standards and procedures.
- Ensure operation of mammography equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Keep mammography supplies and patient gowns ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and collecting and processing laundry.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
- Document patient mammogram services by completing patient record charting.
Requirements
- Current BLS certification.
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
- Mammographic Radiologic Technology certified.
- Able to operate sophisticated computer equipment.
- Able to assist in performing DEXA exams.
- Strong interest in scientific and technical skills and knowledge.
- Able to interact compassionately and effectively with the sick or injured.
- Able to communicate effectively.
- Able to perform well independently.
- Able to follow detailed instructions.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a radiologic technologist.
- Minimum 1+ years of experience as a mammography technologist.
- Experienced with ACR and all inspections.
License/Certification
- BLS Certification (Preferred).
- ARRT Certification (Required).
