Role Summary
The Manager of Patient Services plays a crucial role in overseeing the Shields Health Solutions specialty pharmacy and medication adherence model. This position is essential for managing a dedicated team of pharmacy liaisons situated in specialty clinics within healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and lead the Specialty Liaison team to ensure the highest quality patient experience in specialty clinics.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to the liaison team while promoting the Shields culture at partner sites.
- Deliver consistent performance feedback, training, and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Facilitate effective communication among liaison teams, Shields functional groups, pharmacy departments, and clinic staff.
- Achieve operational targets related to clinic service, growth, and patient satisfaction.
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and drive growth at health system partners.
- Engage with leadership to ensure operational goals are met and to foster growth.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including clinic leadership and pharmacy teams.
- Maintain high partner satisfaction by effectively communicating the value of Shields' operations and addressing concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with regional leadership to implement strategic initiatives, including new clinic launches and workflow enhancements.
- Provide performance updates to Shields leadership and ensure accountability within the Specialty Liaison team.
- Oversee critical responsibilities such as prior authorizations, patient financial assistance, medication refills, and patient outreach.
- Ensure coverage for Specialty Liaisons during absences and resolve issues that may hinder clinic success.
- Work with data analytics and Patient Support Center teams to capitalize on identified opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives and provide expertise to clinics within your scope.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare or pharmacy environment with direct patient interaction.
- National Certification as a CPhT (or equivalent) and prior experience as a licensed pharmacy technician is advantageous.
- Experience in retail, hospital, or outpatient settings with healthcare professionals is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn new programs quickly and extract relevant information.
- Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to manage performance against metrics while maintaining clinical quality.
- Patient-centered, detail-oriented, and a strong team player with a focus on employee engagement and motivation.
- Commitment to confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive health information.
