Position Overview

The CT/XR Technologist plays a crucial role in the daily clinical, technical, and operational activities within the CT department. This position collaborates closely with the supervisor and lead technologists to ensure smooth coordination of all CT department functions, focusing on maintaining optimal patient flow and adequate staff coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient and effective use of technical, physical, and human resources within the department.
  • Ensure adherence to patient care quality standards across all age demographics, from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Conduct diagnostic x-ray procedures as a regular part of the role at designated locations.

Collaboration and Compliance

The CT/XR Technologist works in conjunction with imaging supervisors and lead technologists to receive ongoing guidance from imaging leadership and physicians. Under the direction of the Medical Imaging Chair and designated radiologists, this role is involved in all CT-related activities. Responsibilities include developing, interpreting, and implementing all CT-related policies, procedures, and protocols while ensuring departmental operations align with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Current registration in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and board certification in a specialty.
  • ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certification required upon hire.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a CT technologist in an acute care setting is preferred.
  • BCLS certification is required, with a 90-day window for acquisition post-hire if not already certified.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and adaptability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of human development processes and the capability to work with patients of all ages.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs to assist and move patients.
  • Proficiency in operating a computer for data input and retrieval.
