Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts thorough pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients.
  • Confirms patient identity and gathers comprehensive health histories.
  • Advises on and reviews necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Records detailed pre-anesthetic evaluations.
  • Secures informed consent for anesthesia procedures.
  • Selects, prepares, and administers anesthetic agents and related medications.
  • Communicates any changes in patient condition to the anesthesiologist or surgeon.
  • Administers anesthesia during procedures and oversees recovery from anesthesia.
  • Inserts invasive lines and devices as required.
  • Performs intubation and manages airways effectively.
  • Facilitates mechanical ventilation as needed.
  • Executes venous and arterial punctures for sampling.
  • Conducts regional anesthesia management.
  • Monitors and manages fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance.
  • Utilizes current standards for perianesthetic monitoring techniques.
  • Identifies and addresses cardiac dysrhythmias using electrocardiogram monitoring.
  • Evaluates patient recovery post-anesthesia and administers necessary treatments.
  • Provides follow-up assessments and documentation regarding patient responses to anesthesia.
  • Maintains cleanliness and functionality of anesthesia equipment, reporting any needs for repairs.
  • May engage in patient care activities to uphold clinical skills and competencies.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in airway management and chronic pain management techniques.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of contemporary anesthesia practices.
  • Strong skills in patient assessment and evaluation.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication, customer service, and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with word processing and relevant PC applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a CRNA in an acute care environment.
  • Current RN License is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Valid state APRN Recognition.
  • Certification as a CRNA is required.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications are necessary.
