Purpose

The VP Distribution Operations Manager plays a critical role in setting and supporting the overall Distribution Strategy for Save A Lot. This individual will be responsible for developing, recommending, and executing strategic distribution initiatives to ensure the most cost-effective logistics platform for our company. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex distribution networks, working with engineered standards, incentives, and capital planning.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive distribution strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
    • Provide strategic oversight and drive teams to identify, recommend, and implement changes to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Distribution Center Management
    • Set the strategic direction for distribution centers, overseeing major projects such as layout changes, equipment and space needs, capital expenses, and more.
    • Monitor damage and rework within each distribution center, establishing and implementing distribution center standards.
  • Team Leadership
    • Build a team of People Leaders who understand the work thoroughly, foster a problem-solving culture, ensure quality is right the first time, and tackle root cause problems systematically.
    • Develop strategies for risk control and capital planning, as well as implementing distribution automation.
  • Customer Relationships
    • Manage customer relationships and ensure overall cost control throughout the company's network.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources to provide training and development for distribution team members.
  • Financial Management
    • Administer the fiscal budget for Home Office Distribution Department.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field with 10-15 years of Distribution experience, including over 10 years in a management position.
  • Experience in a complex distribution network, working with engineered standards, incentives, and capital planning.
  • Proven success in setting and implementing strategies across multiple business units.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to achieve desired results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to decision-making.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings.
  • Work is primarily in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk or computer terminal may be required.
  • Use of office equipment such as calculators, keyboards, and telephones.
  • Job duties may involve stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching.
