We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Lake Wales. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for our pool patrons, while also providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area, ensuring the safety of all patrons.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure that all necessary equipment is available and in good working order.
- Inspect the pool and deck for hazardous conditions and report any issues to management.
- Teach swimming lessons to patrons of all ages and skill levels, following a prescribed routine and curriculum.
- Test program participants for swimming skill levels and pass them for participation in more advanced classes.
- Assist in implementing various aquatics competitions throughout the year.
- Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties, including answering phone calls, running errands, and conducting classes.
- Respond to public inquiries about aquatics programs and maintain related records and statistics.
- Assist in the maintenance of the swimming pool, including monitoring and maintaining pool filtration systems and water chemistry.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- First Aid, AED, and CPR certification required.
- Ability to effectively teach swimming lessons and enforce safety and health regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, instructors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
The work environment is typically quiet, with occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and moderately loud noise levels.
