Responsibilities- Oversee clinical functions related to patient care, quality of nursing practice, and standards of care for the assigned shift.
- Coordinate patient care activities by directing staff and maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit-specific expertise.
- Perform professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
- Provide break relief coverage for the shift and troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
- Function as a role model and clinical resource to staff and patients.
- Minimum of four years recent Perinatal nursing experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Unit, with at least two years in Labor & Delivery.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient classification system and staffing requirements for the patient population.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient acuity.
- Demonstrated ability to assign/align staffing assignments based on a patient's acuity and a nurse's competency and skill to care for a given acuity.
- Basic Fetal Monitoring Course Completion (Class certificate).
- Baby Friendly Certification.
- BSN Degree.
- Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring.
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- ANCC or NCC recognized RN certification uniquely applicable to this specific unit.
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Background Check and Live Scan.
- Legal Right to Work in the United States.
- Vaccination Policies.
- Smoking and Tobacco Policy.
- Drug Free Environment.
