Position Overview:

This role involves planning, executing, and assessing nursing care for a designated unit or shift. The Nursing Supervisor ensures that staff conduct thorough assessments of client health issues and needs, formulate and implement nursing care strategies, and maintain comprehensive medical documentation. This position oversees the quality and delivery of nursing services to clients who are ill, recovering, or have disabilities. Additionally, the supervisor provides guidance on health maintenance and disease prevention, as well as case management. Leadership responsibilities include supervising and organizing the work of assigned nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and organize the work of nursing staff.
  2. Administer prescribed medications and initiate intravenous fluids, documenting details in client records.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care strategies.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed reports and client records.
  5. Adjust client treatment plans based on their responses and conditions.
  6. Monitor all aspects of client care, including dietary and physical activity.
  7. Record and report symptoms and changes in clients' health status.
  8. Observe nursing staff and visit clients to ensure appropriate nursing care is delivered.
  9. Prepare clients for examinations and treatments, assisting as necessary.
  10. Ensure that rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready and adequately stocked.
  11. Provide education to clients and their families.
  12. Deliver healthcare services, first aid, immunizations, and support during recovery and rehabilitation.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in assessing, planning, and delivering fundamental nursing skills; knowledgeable in developing, implementing, and revising care plans.
  • Familiarity with nursing policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Understanding of medication administration procedures, including oral, sublingual, and IV medications; knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Awareness of immunization regulations and protocols.
  • Capability to perform CPR and, at some locations, use an AED.
  • Leadership skills, including team management, performance evaluation, training, decision-making, and delegation; understanding of employee roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to anticipate and plan for unit needs.

Compliance Requirement:

State law mandates a national and state background check as a condition of employment for this role.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution or an Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited institution, along with a current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse and a minimum of two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
