Job Summary

LOCATION: Lancaster PA

SIGN-ON BONUS: Up to $9,000 sign-on with a two-year commitment (external candidates only)

SCHEDULE: Full-time, 0.9 FTE, 3rd shift, Monday-Friday - one on-call weekend and approximately every fifth weekend. Holiday on-call rotation.

The Interventional Vascular Unit (IVU) is actively seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology/Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist to support their three procedural rooms and 16-bed pre-post unit. This role involves specializing in a diverse range of Interventional Radiology procedures, including but not limited to vascular interventions, oncology treatments, biopsy and drain placements, as well as diagnostic and interventional neuro and peripheral access procedures. Technologists will be trained across all procedure areas and will execute image acquisition utilizing radiographic techniques to deliver patient care aimed at diagnostic and/or interventional treatment. Collaboration with vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and neuroradiologists is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

As a vital member of the team, the technologist will:

  • Assist physicians during all invasive cardiology, vascular, and specialized procedures, ensuring adherence to OR standards of practice. Responsibilities include maintaining a sterile field, proper setup, handling and maintaining equipment, and administering contrast media. Accurate documentation of all procedures and care provided is essential.
  • Provide patient care for both critical and non-critical patients during invasive procedures, including post-procedure care as necessary. Conduct thorough patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions.
  • Perform routine diagnostic fluoroscopic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring proper patient positioning, technique selection, and radiation protection.
  • Administer medications and manage all drugs in the Cath Lab formulary.
  • Participate in the on-call system for emergency and urgent studies, maintaining a 30-minute response time.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiation safety, electrical safety, and universal precautions, applying safeguards consistently.
  • Engage in the clinical instruction of students and staff on all procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma / GED.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS certified) or a graduate of an accredited school of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (RCIS certification required within two years of hire); OR Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) Certified or a graduate of a formal radiation technologists program with RT (R) (VI certification required within two years of hire); OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certified or a graduate of a certified school of Electrophysiology (EP) technology (RCES certification required within two years of hire).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in the healthcare field.
  • Two years of experience as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist or X-Ray Technologist.
