Medical Language Localization Specialist

Medical Priority Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Medical Language Localization Specialist to join our team in SLC, UT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for translating and adapting medical protocols from English to Malay for our clients in the emergency dispatch market. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your language expertise and cultural knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people in Malaysia.
About the Job:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytically skilled Medical Language Localization Specialist to execute the translation and cultural adaptation of medical protocols. This involves re-writing original materials in Malay, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained, and adapting the material to the emergency dispatch market in Malaysia. You will also be responsible for finding the closest equivalents for terminology and words using specialized dictionaries, thesauruses, reference books, and native-speaker proficiency in Malay. In addition, you will edit and proofread final translated versions of material, approve all final product versions, and maintain databases and knowledge bases of all Malaysian text and terminology used in our products.
Responsibilities:
- Translate and adapt medical protocols from English to Malay for the emergency dispatch market in Malaysia
- Research technical, scientific, and legal phraseology to find the correct Malay translation
- Develop expert knowledge in cultural and translation areas related to emergency dispatch
- Edit and proofread final translated versions of material
- Approve all final product versions
- Maintain databases and knowledge bases of all Malaysian text and terminology used in our products
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a foreign language/linguistics or a related discipline (e.g., education, communications, computer science) or equivalent education and experience
- Native fluency of the Malaysian language
- Advanced verbal and written skills in both English and Malay
- Competences in writing and proofreading of text
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects
Requirements:

- Frequent computer and telephone use
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time
- Concentrating for long periods of time
Salary:
We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 per year, based on experience. This includes a full range of benefits, including health, dental, vision, pet, and legal insurance, a hybrid work schedule, tuition reimbursement, parental leave, employer contributions to 401K and HSA options, parking or Trax options, PTO, and more.
Work Environment:
This is a typical office job which requires the ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk with occasionally moving, standing, and walking. Requires use of arms, hands, or fingers, in handling or manipulating objects, or operating equipment, tools and/or instruments requiring fine eye-hand coordination. Occasionally requires repeated bending, crouching, stretching, or crawling, along with regularly lifting pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. The work environment is composed of moderate noise (examples: business office with computer and printers, light traffic).
