Position Overview
KIPP Indy is in search of a Bilingual Education Specialist who will be tasked with delivering exceptional instruction to our diverse student body.
At KIPP Indy, educators are responsible for providing high-quality, engaging, and challenging instruction that fosters strong academic outcomes and deep understanding among students. Our teachers utilize data-driven approaches to guide their teaching and are dedicated to ensuring that every student achieves their learning goals. They are committed to an anti-racist educational framework and strive to prepare students to become influential leaders who positively impact their communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of effective teaching methodologies for linguistically diverse learners.
- Implement SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) strategies consistently within the classroom.
- Develop and monitor Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to support the academic needs of linguistically diverse students.
- Manage and analyze progress monitoring data related to student language proficiency.
- Enforce student management policies throughout the classroom and school environment.
- Create and maintain a supportive and positive learning atmosphere.
- Establish and nurture strong communication channels with parents and families.
- Participate in school-wide events, including family conferences and open houses.
- Utilize assessments and data to set objectives, inform instructional decisions, and engage students in their learning journey.
- Handle all classroom-related duties, including administrative tasks related to instructional materials, student records, and attendance.
- Arrive at school punctually by 8:10 a.m.
- Engage in professional development opportunities, including summer training, weekly meetings, and ongoing racial equity workshops.
- Be available for evening communication with families regarding educational matters.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings, fostering open communication with colleagues.
- Adhere to all expectations outlined in the KIPP Indy Employee Handbook.
- Be responsive to the diverse and evolving needs of students and staff at KIPP Indy.
- Ability to utilize data for problem-solving.
- Demonstrates resilience and determination in overcoming challenges to achieve objectives.
- Effectively manages time and resources, prioritizing tasks in alignment with organizational goals.
- Communicates inclusively and proactively fosters an environment of belonging.
- Maintains high expectations for all students, believing in their potential to become impactful leaders.
- Valid Indiana Teaching License or in the process of obtaining reciprocity (Required).
- Bachelor's degree (Required).
- Successful completion of a criminal background check (Required).
- Commitment to serving underserved student populations (Required).
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience in an urban public elementary school (Preferred).
- Experience in analyzing student data to inform instructional practices (Preferred).
