Position Overview:
The Environmental Services Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and clean environment within specialized healthcare areas, including surgical and recovery units. This position is vital for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control, thereby enhancing the overall patient experience.

Work Schedule:
Tuesday to Friday, with shifts starting between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, totaling 4 hours per shift.

Compensation:
$15.50 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute cleaning and disinfection protocols for specialized units and equipment, including but not limited to Surgical Services and Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU).
2. Apply knowledge of healthcare cleaning principles, ensuring the safe use of chemicals and equipment while promoting labor-saving practices.
3. Adhere to safety, risk management, and infection control standards, fostering a culture of safety.
4. Maintain accurate logs and checklists to ensure compliance with cleaning protocols.
5. Demonstrate expertise in cleaning and disinfecting sensitive environments, following manufacturer recommendations and organizational policies.
6. Manage inventory by keeping the environmental services cart organized and fully stocked.
7. Properly dispose of waste, recognizing different waste streams such as regulated medical and recyclable materials.
8. Follow established infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene and the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
9. Uphold patient privacy standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Additional Duties:
1. Exhibit personal accountability and initiative in problem-solving.
2. Stay informed about facility safety requirements and protocols.
3. Operate and maintain all necessary EVS tools and equipment.
4. Assist in the training of new Environmental Services Technicians as needed.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare environmental services.

Skills:
- Ability to differentiate between levels of disinfection and perform appropriate cleaning techniques.
- Proficient in reading and writing English at a 6th-9th grade level.
- Strong communication skills, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Health Requirements:
- Physical examination, including PPD (TB test) and blood tests for immunity to various diseases.
- COVID-19 vaccination and flu shot are mandatory.
