The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the specific requirements of the department, adhering to the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN offers individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN acts as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and exemplifies a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
- Meet the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department (ED) and manage all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
- Engage in activities to plan, measure, assess, and enhance the quality of patient care.- Regularly provide triage assessments for patients seeking treatment.
- Perform venipunctures for obtaining specimens for laboratory tests.
- Provide interventions in emergency, life-threatening situations.
- Assume the responsibility of charging the department as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Current Texas Licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS or BLCLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS or ACLS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum one year of experience in Emergency Services (ED) (ER) (FSED).
