Job Summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to join our team at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Wausau. As a PRN Pharmacist, you will work as-needed during facility hours and be on-call for after-hours and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Verify physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system, applying expert knowledge of drugs and related protocols.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy, checking all work in line with State Boards of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Adjust dosages based on established protocols for each drug, ensuring appropriateness for the patient's condition and other medications being used.
  • Educate patients on the proper use and expected effects of medications, especially when using multiple medications or being discharged.
  • Manage narcotics and inventory control, including regular documentation and completion of checklists.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Director in maintaining the pharmacy's accreditation and implementing operational changes, such as new systems or standard procedure adjustments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Must be a 'good standing' licensed Pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin or able to obtain licensure.
  • In-patient/hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • IV experience preferred.
  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
  • Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly to communicate with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work on-call or be in an on-call rotation.
