We are seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Administrator to join our team at Sandhills Global. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our database infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities


  • Install and maintain MS SQL Servers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Configure and maintain Windows Cluster/SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, guaranteeing high availability and data integrity.
  • Develop and implement SQL server HA/DR policies and procedures, ensuring business continuity and minimizing downtime.
  • Create, migrate, and deploy databases, ensuring seamless integration with our existing systems.
  • Design and implement database backup, maintenance, and restore plans, ensuring data security and integrity.
  • Develop automation scripts for repeating database tasks, increasing efficiency and reducing manual errors.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance-related issues, ensuring optimal database performance.
  • Test disaster recovery scenarios, ensuring our systems are prepared for any eventuality.
  • Design and implement database objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and report queries, to support database administration.
  • Assume other database duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills and Experience


  • At least 2 years' experience in MS SQL database administration, with a strong understanding of database concepts and best practices.
  • Experience working closely with senior database administrators, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows Clusters and Microsoft AlwaysOn Availability Groups, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
  • Knowledge of T-SQL execution plans, enabling effective problem-solving and indexing application.
  • PowerShell scripting skills, a plus in automating database tasks and increasing efficiency.
