Job Summary

The Law Admissions Counselor is responsible for providing admissions and financial aid counseling to prospective, entering, and continuing students. This position will serve as the primary contact for students interested in graduate legal programs and will represent the School of Law at recruiting events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide admissions and financial aid counseling to prospective students and advise applicants, entering, and continuing students regarding available sources of financial aid and alternative financing.
  • Counsel international students on potential sources of funding and conduct admissions and financial aid workshops.
  • Represent the School of Law at recruiting events and respond to admissions and financial aid inquiries.
  • Update admissions and financial aid information on the website for the School of Law and investigate opportunities to increase awareness of the School of Law for students from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds.
  • Serve as primary contact for students interested in graduate legal programs and acquire and maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations affecting international students interested in graduate legal programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum of 0-3 years of admissions and financial aid experience in a law school or graduate school environment desired.
  • Experience working with international students highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of federal financial aid regulations and law school admissions practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with immigration regulations applicable to international students.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.
Work Environment

This position will be required to travel to other buildings on the campus and attend recruiting events, conferences, and training sessions locally and out-of-state. The typical office environment is mostly indoor with windows and offices with equipment noise.
