The City of Augusta GA is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Control Room Operator. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for maintaining order and security within the facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of inmates, employees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor all security intercoms, video surveillance monitors, and internal and external radio transmissions.
  • Control access to the facility, including entry and exit gates, and ensure that only authorized vehicles and personnel have access.
  • Operate the control panel for cells, entrance to cell block, emergency exits, and visitation/attorney area.
  • Activate security staff to any area of the facility where backup is required.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • No experience required, but previous experience in law enforcement, public safety, or a related occupation is preferred
  • Considerable knowledge of law enforcement and the corrections process
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws, county policies and procedures, and departmental directives
  • Proficiency in using GCIC/NCIC and JMS computer operations
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
