Job Summary:

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Adjunct Faculty member to teach part-time temporary courses in the Geography discipline. As a member of our faculty team, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic experience of our students and contributing to the college's mission of student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Geography, including Introduction to Cultural Geography, Introduction to Geography, Introduction to Physical Geography, Maps and Mapping, United States Geography, and World Regional Geography.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to promote student learning and success.
  • Use instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning, and stay current with best practices in education.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in program and curriculum review and development, and contribute to the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in the discipline of instruction or a related field, or a Master's degree in any field with 15 hours in the discipline or sufficient experience in lieu of either requirement, as approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Subject matter/content expertise in Geography and the ability to teach a variety of courses in the discipline.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators.
