Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Science Educator to join our team at Archway Programs. As a Science Educator, you will be responsible for providing science instruction to students under the direct supervision of the principal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Archway child study team, sending district child study teams, administration, parents, and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide guidance and direction to teacher assistants to ensure they are utilizing their skills and abilities effectively.
  • Utilize teacher assistants to provide student activities that are interactive and engaging, promoting hands-on learning and exploration.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, utilizing effective classroom management systems to promote student engagement and motivation.
  • Organize and utilize classroom learning centers and displays student work and behavioral contracts to promote student pride and ownership.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student growth, behavior, and needs, ensuring a collaborative and supportive approach to education.
  • Keep up-to-date anecdotal records and work folders indicating pupil's current level of functioning in the area of science, providing a comprehensive understanding of student progress.
  • Assist in curriculum development, selection of educational materials, and equipment to ensure a comprehensive and engaging science program.
  • Utilize a sequential curricula with planned experiences to enable students to develop self-expression, improve self-concept, develop social skills, develop self-help skills, improve work/study habits, apply knowledge in basic skill areas, improve pupil's health/physical development, develop career awareness, and improve pre-vocational/vocational skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science Education or related field.
  • NJ Teacher of Science certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans and classroom management systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a commitment to providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment.
