We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our Custodial Team at Portland Public Schools. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Collaborate with your team to ensure all school facilities are clean and well-maintained, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, washing windows, and cleaning sumps.
  • Room Prioritization: Prioritize the cleaning of different types of rooms, including restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and other areas.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is in good working order, including boilers, heating and ventilation systems, and minor mechanical equipment.
  • Event Support: Work with school staff to set up facilities for after-school activities, special events, and meetings.
  • Emergency Response: Be available to respond to after-hours emergency situations as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals and promote a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and carry out written and oral directions.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to lift, bend, stoop, twist, walk, and carry heavy objects for extended periods.
  • Computer Skills: Possess basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
