Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician

Columbia Sportswear is a leading manufacturer of outdoor apparel and footwear. We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician to join our team in maintaining the company's facilities and equipment.

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on company facilities and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting work. The successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting periodic inspections to determine maintenance work required and maintaining all equipment necessary to perform work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in repairs to facility structure, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, fire protection, electrical, and HVAC control systems.
  • Provide preventive maintenance for all facility equipment, utilizing MS Word and/or Excel to maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Install, build or modify building furniture as required.
  • Determine when service calls are needed and act as liaison with outside contractors for services related to building maintenance.
  • Assist with the Document Retention program, responding to and managing requests for pick up/delivery to document retention storage site.
  • Control tools and spare parts needed for repair and maintenance of equipment/systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years experience with heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other general facilities maintenance and repair skills.
  • A high school education or equivalent (or equivalent work experience).
  • Training in the maintenance trades, formal apprenticeship, or on-the-job training preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Requires knowledge of skilled trades and understanding of electrical, building codes safety rules and regulations.
  • Able to read building blueprints.
  • Require knowledge of basic mathematics, handbook formulas and maintenance techniques.
  • Average computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Job Scope

Contacts are with others inside and outside the organization. These internal contacts may include all Columbia Sportswear personnel. External contacts may include equipment service providers, and other vendors and suppliers. Interactions tend to focus on information exchange, providing assistance, or receiving directions.

Job Conditions

Job may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak periods. Some exposure to noisy machines. Will work in every area of building facilities and occasionally outside. Must be able to climb ladders. Must be able to carry out duties involving any or all of the following physical requirements on a regular or interim basis while carrying out essential job functions.
