Job Description

Essentia Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Clinical Senior Manager to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, organizing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing all clinical activities within your area of pharmacy department oversight.

You will work closely with the Directors of Pharmacy Services and other leaders to ensure the goals and policies of the department are aligned with the Mission and Values of Essentia Health and regulatory guidance. Your leadership will drive the development and innovation of the clinical practice model, and you will contribute to strategic planning for the department, ensuring fiscal management of services in accordance with the highest standards of stewardship.

As a Pharmacy Clinical Senior Manager, you will be responsible for providing pharmacy services at the highest quality to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will guide and oversee leaders responsible for the department's residency programs, students, and interns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of system-wide hospital clinical practice and associated strategies in assigned areas, driving patient care excellence and ensuring the achievement of department and organizational goals.
  • Maintain accountability to the highest standards of stewardship for assigned areas, in collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Inform and participate in formulary decision making and strategies.
  • Serve as a professional resource in facilitating interdisciplinary practice and communication.
  • Provide pharmacy representation and leadership on pharmacy, system, and external committees related to hospital clinical pharmacy services and value-based care.
  • Foster an environment that provides consistent excellence in patient and colleague experience, outcomes that meet or exceed quality standards, operational targets, and financial targets, a culture of employee engagement and wellbeing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with all internal groups, external agencies, and other stakeholders to anticipate needs and ensure alignment within a highly matrixed environment.
  • Support and lead programs for pharmacy learners and continuing education.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Education Qualifications

Graduate of a college of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmacy Education.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience providing and overseeing clinical pharmacy services, including one of the following:
  • 5 years of applicable pharmacy experience, including a minimum of 3 years of health system pharmacy leadership.
  • Completion of an accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency and a minimum of 3 years of applicable health system pharmacy leadership.
  • Completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency (with leadership domains) and a minimum of 2 years of applicable health system pharmacy leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certification in a specialty relevant to areas of practice and oversight.
  • Master's in business administration or equivalent training.
  • Experience working and leading multi-disciplinary initiatives and health system-level projects.
  • Proven successes in value-based care delivery.
  • Proven success in scholarship (primary literature publication, teaching, education development, etc.).
  • Proven success in leadership and support of colleagues and teams.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications

Certifications/Licensure Requirements:

  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota) within 90 days of hire.
