Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Operator to join our team at the Loxahatchee River District. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry working with underground utilities and be competent in large diameter pipe work (16" – 36" diameter) and the operation of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators and forklifts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of underground and above grade wastewater facilities, including force main and gravity sewer lines and appurtenances. They will also be required to perform restoration of property and right of way associated with installation, repair and maintenance of underground and above grade wastewater facilities.

The ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license and be insurable for motor vehicle use. They will also be required to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, repairs and maintains force main and gravity sewer lines and appurtenances.
  • Performs restoration of property and right of way associated with installation, repair and maintenance of underground and above grade wastewater facilities.
  • Operates and maintains vacuum trucks, line cleaning equipment, service vehicles, construction vehicles/equipment and truck mounted cranes.
  • Sets up and maintains temporary traffic control.
  • Works within a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) for workload and project tracking and daily scheduling.
  • Works within a GIS (Geographic Information System) to locate and operate the wastewater collection system as relates to installation, repair and maintenance of the system.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry working with underground utilities.
  • Competent in large diameter pipe work (16" – 36" diameter) and the operation of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators and forklifts.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable for motor vehicle use.
