Job Summary

We are seeking Licensed Mental Health Professionals to join our team at the Lee County Jail located in Fort Myers, FL. As a Licensed Mental Health Professional, you will play a critical role in providing mental health care to our patients, including performing and documenting mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and suicide watch notes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health evaluations, progress notes, individual and group counseling notes, and suicide watch notes
  • Coordinate with healthcare and security staff regarding patients' mental health care and release dates
  • Participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V / DSM-V-TR criteria
  • Provide goal-oriented intervention directed toward management of terminal illness; reaction/adjustment to illness; strengthening of family/support system; conflict resolution related to chronic illness
  • Counsel and provide intervention to assist in the transition to being incarcerated
  • Document thoroughly all tasks as stated in clients' medical record to maintain social work recording and statistics
  • Initiates and/or participates in patient education and treatment programs, such as developing educational materials and providing group therapy
Qualifications
  • Master's prepared Mental Health Professional with active, unrestricted licensure as a LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc. in FL
  • A valid CPR card
  • A minimum of 3 years clinical experience in a mental health care setting, with correctional healthcare experience preferred
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, discharge planning, principles of social work, basic principles of individual and group behavior, and a working knowledge of psychotropic medications
