Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Semi-Trailer Technician to join our team at Great Western Leasing & Sales LLC. As a Semi-Trailer Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, replacing, and inspecting semi-trailers in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and safety policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Repair: Air brake lines, couplers, tanks, valves, shoes, drums, pads, and rotors; services, low voltage wiring connections, harnesses, lights, batteries, and charging systems.
  • Body and Chassis: Inspect and repair body and chassis rails, side-sheets, caps, doors, retainers, decking, floors, and plates for damage or defect.
  • Lift Gate and Minor Repairs: Lubricate and repair lift gates, minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Wreck Damage: Repair wreck damage on all components of the trailer.
  • Basic and Comprehensive Repair: Perform basic and comprehensive repair and fabrication on equipment and components; arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting.
Install or Replace:
  • Add-on Components: Install or replace add-on components and accessories like dunnage racks, toolboxes, ramp kits, nosecones, wenches, and more.
  • Quality Check and Reporting: Prepare service reports and any other necessary paperwork; examine workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
Quality and Safety:
  • Quality Check: Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures, manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work.
  • Safety: Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations; follow company safety policies and procedures and comply with safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation.
  • Personal Tools: Own a personal set of hand tools.
  • Broad Knowledge: Have a broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to Operate: Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in semi-trailer repairs.
  • Certifications: ASE or other industry-recognized certifications helpful; welding certification.
  • Bilingual: Bilingual Spanish a plus.
