Position Overview

Eligibility: This opportunity is available to current, permanent employees within the agency, eligible military spouses under the DoD Priority Placement Program, and current employees under the Veterans Recruitment Appointment.

This recruitment effort aims to fill roles at the GS-11 or GS-12 level, with a target grade of GS-12. The salary range for GS-11 is between $73,218 and $95,181, while for GS-12, it ranges from $87,758 to $114,082.

Agency Clarification

This recruitment is specifically for current, permanent employees of the agency in the competitive service, eligible military spouses under the DoD PPP, and current Veterans Recruitment Appointment employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track the progress of tasks and projects to ensure timely completion and identify any discrepancies affecting success.
  • Act as the primary contact for all inquiries and administrative challenges presented to the Agency Director.
  • Review all correspondence and actions prepared by others for alignment with the Director's policies and preferences, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Oversee small projects from inception to completion, assisting in the planning and execution of conferences, meetings, and organization-wide training events.
  • The responsibilities outlined above represent the full performance level for this position (GS-12).
Employment Conditions

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Registered for Selective Service (for males born after a specific date).
  • Must be suitable for Federal employment.
  • Must have served at least 3 months following the latest competitive appointment in Federal service.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade within the federal service, demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.

GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 level, showcasing the ability to fulfill the position's responsibilities.

Specialized Experience Defined: Involves executing administrative tasks such as scheduling, monitoring projects, or providing support for small initiatives; offering correspondence assistance regarding policies or administrative procedures.

GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level, demonstrating the ability to execute the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience Defined: Involves applying administrative and policy expertise to coordinate tasks or projects among various stakeholders; reviewing, editing, and submitting correspondence at the executive level.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the last 52 weeks must meet the time in grade requirement.
  • To qualify for GS-11, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher in Federal Service.
  • To qualify for GS-12, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in Federal Service.
Consideration may be granted if meeting time-in-grade, specialized experience, education requirements, and all other qualifications within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated.

Education

GS-11 Education Substitution: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may substitute for specialized experience. Equivalent combinations of higher-level graduate education and experience may also be considered. If using education to substitute for specialized experience, transcripts must be submitted at the time of application. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

GS-12 and Above: Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
