Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Echo Cardiography

Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist - Echo Cardiography is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and performing and communicating results of echo cardiography examinations using sonography. This role requires a high standard of medical ethics and a self-motivated approach to increasing knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates program activities to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives.
  2. Leads the development, implementation, ongoing assessment, and improvement of Cardiography programs, patient-care protocols, standards of care, policies, and procedures.
  3. Monitors outcomes, identifies opportunities/gaps, and initiates appropriate enhancements and/or corrections.
  4. Performs all requested Echo Cardiography examinations as ordered by the attending physician, prepares preliminary reports, and contacts referring physicians as required.
  5. Engages with internal and external partners to advance the SPMC mission and vision.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a formal Echo Cardiography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
  • Three years of experience required; five years of experience preferred. Experience should include routine stress and non-stress examinations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate.

Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work independently, performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, systems-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds, carry up to 35 pounds, push/pull up to 35 pounds, sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop, and be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
